A local supermarket has donated £1,000 to Home-Start Slough (HSS), after the charity was nominated by the public to receive the money.
The Asda store, located on Telford Drive, put out a call before Christmas asking residents to nominate worthy causes in the area, which needed a financial boost in the New Year.
Janine Edwards, Scheme Manager at HSS, said: “We’re delighted to have been chosen by Asda to receive this £1,000 gift and we will use the money to train two volunteers to support families in Slough.
“We are extremely grateful to everyone who nominated us and to Asda for helping us continue to make a difference to families in Slough.”
Store manager, Jeremy Smith, who judged the entries, added: “We’re delighted to be able to offer a £1,000 donation to make a difference in our community. We received many touching nominations for a number of fantastic causes, but Home-Start Slough really stood out to us.
“Through this campaign, we’ve found out about some of the great work going on in Slough, which we can also help support through our Community Life initiative in-store.
“We have a dedicated community life champion who is committed to supporting worthwhile causes within our community. To find out any more information, just pop into the store and ask us.”
