Event held regarding support for families of children with learning disabilities or autism

Home-Start Slough will be hosting a referrer open house event at their offices on March 7, 2016, to discuss the new award they have received from NHS England to support families of young children with learning difficulties or autism.

The event starts at midday until 3pm and anyone who works with families who have young children with severe learning disabilities or autism are encouraged to attend.

HSS recently won an award from NHS England to enhance the support they provide for families of young children with a learning disability or autism.

Caring for young children with these disabilities can put unimaginable stress on marriages, siblings, work, finances and personal relationships.

Early intervention and gaining the support from the right organisation at the right time can enable parents to give their children the best possible start in life. Thanks to NHS England, HSS is now in a position to help support these families.

Lesley Michaelis, Chair of Home-Start Slough, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this grant in recognition of our unique capability to engage, empower and transform the lives of children in need in Slough.

“We believe Home-Start Slough can now help to transform care for children and young people with learning disabilities or autism and their families in our area. We want to invite those working with affected families in Slough to come along to our referrer event to see how they can utilise our services.”
